Text Messages Not Sending After NoDo on HD7

HTC HD7 users running NoDo have been encountering some issues relating to sending text messages, and the correlation seems to point to the NoDo update as the cause. Users of the HD7 on various different carriers (including Bell, T-Mobile, O2, and Telus) have been reporting the SMS issues on an XDA-Developers thread:

…before the NoDo update I never had a problem with it, but ever since then, I keep
getting a lot of error messages for text messages saying the message wasn’t sent.

Frustration erupts when text messages aren't sent

I too have been encountering this problem, and it has been happening quite frequently in the last few weeks, like at least once a day. In my case, pressing the “Try Again” button usually doesn’t even work, and the message continues to not send.

Some other HD7 users on the thread suggested turning off 3G and hypothesised that a low 3G signal could be preventing the text messages from being sent. Another forum member suggested that you should wait on the text message screen after pressing send, because returning to the homescreen too quickly can interrupt the sending process. I’ve tested the second theory and concluded that leaving the text messaging screen as soon as you click send has no impact on if the text message sends or fails.

I have tom hd7 with NoDo. Currently in Mexico using pre paid none 3G sim card and been sending txt with no issue.

I have a HTC HD7 with the NoDo update and I haven't had any issues whatsover sending texts. I did have some issues before the NoDo update, but these seem to be corrected. (UK O2 network)

I have been having this issue since I updated to NoDo as well, but I'm using a Samsung Omnia 7 though .. So I don't think it's exclusive to the HD7. The only solution for me seems to be pressing "Try again" endless times until it works ..

I have the hd7 with nodo on tmobile. No problems texting except when i attach an image sometimes. I got nodo before it was official for the hd7

I had this problem on my HD7 (unlocked o2) on Vodafone pre no-do. I found it happened when replying to a conversation, no matter how many times I used re-try it was never sent. If I re-selected the 'to' from the address book or created a new message it was fine. Seemed to imply that thought the 'to' looked correct the number behind the name was corrupt.

since the update to nodo by chevron updater, my touch screen stops working every now and then and i have to switch the device off and on – I'm starting to dislike NoDo :-/

I think it's a tmobile issue with the HD7. I've had a couple messages that needed resending pre-nodo and with nodo. happens about less than 1% of the messages I send….and I send a lot of messages….but it does happen.

I have an HTC HD7(T-Mo USA), I experience this everyday, several times a day. I'm a heavy texter and 9 out of 10, I have to retry several times.

Russia, LG Quantum (ATT) with NoDo and LG Update, can't send MMS with photo taken on camera (MTS and Megafon carriers), simple SMS works fine. I'm not sure it happens because of NoDo, I never tried to send MMS with picture before…

The hd7's radio is also weak as hell. Worst phone purchase ever. Feature phone os with flimsy build and a weak radio.

i only send 5-6 text messages a month, but no problems before or after nodo… sent two just yesterday — 100% okay. HD7 on Taiwan Mobile unbranded. No complaints.

Unlocked HD7 on T-MOBILE get the "can't send message" alot of times….I send about 130 texts a day.

HD& on TMO in Los Angeles. I have poor reception at home, but Pre NoDo did not have any issue sending texts. I think the weak 3G signal may be onto something as I have decent Edge signal at home, but poor 3G. That said, pre NoDo, I did not have any text sending issues, whereas I am often having to 'try again' now.

HD7 user on T-Mobile USA and I haven't had this problem at all. Oh, I have to agree with one of the posters above. The HD7 does indeed have a weak radio. Of the 3 smartphones in my home, Nokia Nuron, Moto Defy and my HD7, the HD7 has the weakest reception. Even my son's Samsung feature phone gets better reception.

I'm on TMO in Seattle, on an HD7, and I have to say that I'm having poor reception. I assumed it was because TMO took down a cell tower in my neighborhood (does that even happen?), but it may be due to the HD7 antenna strength…I've had issues pre and post NoDo. Not sure if it's been worse, but it certainly is annoying.

Using an HD7 here in Canada and have had no issues sending SMS messages since the update. Still can't send MMS because there is no way to change the settings, but that is a different issue.

Also, my reception is usually 5 bars everywhere I go in the city (Toronto) so not much of an issue on that front either.

I get the "Can't send message. Try Again." message about 1/3 of the time on T-Mobile. It is very frustrating. I did not have the phone pre-NoDo, so I cant say that it has gotten better or worse. It is just unacceptable.

I'm facing this problem in my HD7 pretty frequently. Almost like 15-20% of messages sent everyday, fail to send. I thought it was phone service provider's network issue.

Yeah it doesn't seem to be carrier-specific, and a few other devices have been reporting it (a Surround and a Omnia 7 in these comments). 15% is about what my txt failure rate is, I believe. That's really bad.

Same issue on omnia7 doesn't happen too often and whilst you can sit there pressing try again I've found copying the message you're trying to send, deleting the unsent one and pasting the text back, sends instantly (less convaluted than it sounds)

SIM unlocked Samsung Focus from Rogers (GSM) running on SaskTel (WCDMA, aka HSPA+).

I had the issue before and after nodo until I caught a tip over on xda-developers about GCF settings needing to be disabled. Not a problem since, except in areas where radio penetration is difficult.

After updating NoDo on my HD7 about 2 weeks, the issue started to be frequently. I got more 50% failure message, it’s frustrated. I think it’s the problem with WP7 but the latest update does not fix that.

I’m from Brazil,
I have a samsung omnia 7 with NoDo and after upgrading I can no longer send messages. I went back to my old device and sending sms normally, I believe it is a Windows Phone problem.

Hi guys, I’m in the US, on AT&T, running on Windows Phone 7.5 (Nodo) on an LG Quantum. Some text messages are sent, others not, however I’m not getting any errors on my phone. My friends keep showing me their phones, sometimes out of 3 messages they’re only getting one. What scares me, is the fact that I have no control over which SMS-s were sent and which were not.
