Top Tip: Don’t drop it!
I’ve got an HD2, and recently in the wonderful, soggy weather we have in Bristol, I dropped it onto a concrete pavement. Needless to say, the HD2 came of worse than the pavement.
If it didn’t have a flush screen, and had a plastic body, I’m fairly sure the stress concentration wouldn’t have been that great, and the whole thing would likely be better off…
It’ll be booked in for repairs on Monday, and I’ll keep you posted on how long it takes, but I’ll be using a much tighter grip in future!!!
Ouch! That had to hurt…
My girlfriends Diamond landed on the pavement yesterday and fortunately nothing was broken. It was the second time something like that happened. Part from scratches on the screen and few bigger on the chassis there are no visible signs of contact with pavement.
I've seen this a lot on iPhones too. They often still work fine though, including the capacitive screen. Is yours still working okay, l3v5y?
OUCH!
That really hurts to my sight.
I guess I'll add this to my list of cons for the HD2, the glass screen is not all good. Little by little I'm getting more attracted to the Omnia2 instead for this Christmas.
The HD2 is still way too expensive and no contracts are available for it in Spain. I can get the Omnia2 really cheap though.
I'm open to opinions though.
that pic gave me chest pains…
Sorry your behalf
Yeh Bristol im studying there
That's nasty!
I have a silicone sleeve for my Touch HD which gives it excellent grip. On a couple of occasions I've still managed to drop it, onto a hard surface, and the silicone was enough to prevent any damage.
Yes they spoil the look of it a bit, but I got a black one so it's not too bad.
I hope you're able to get it repaired without them ripping you off.
So did you not have insurance for it? Big no no for such an expensive phone.
damn, that image is miserable
its like all the happiness in the world came to an end…
That is a good advertisement for cases and protective skins for any smartphone, let alone an HD2.
In a HORRIBLE coincidence… within 5 minutes of me seeing this picture ON MY HD2… my HD2 slid off my leg (I was sitting on a chair) and dropped about half a metre down to my concrete patio… landing face down… well, my HD2 now looks WORSE than l3v5y's HD2
@l3v5y – where and how are you getting the new glass 'screen' from?
Mine has just developed about 50 dead or stuck pixels in one corner. I dont remember dropping it or knocking it hard. Either way ive contacted HTC for a repair.
holy crap! that photo gave a slight heart attack!
It says SCRATCH resistant not BREAK resistant!
My HD (original) has taken a couple of tumbles in the Bristol soggey weather. Luckily it's survived without any major damage. Hope your HD2 gets sorted soon.
I saw the photos and I immediately grabbed mine, just to be sure it's there, untouched, on its glossy glory..! :-p
THERE IS NO GOD!!!
:(:(
I'm too scared to own an expensive phone in fear of damaging it like that. I like to have stuff that's a bit more throwaway.
Sorry to see that. Do be careful next time.
i threw mine at a wall last week after i lost a grip on it when taking it out of my pocket. (I'm much more careful now). i was extremely lucky that it hit the (brick) wall with the back. the metal around the camera is dented and lost some paint but other than that it's fine. almost had a heart attack as i felt it slip from my fingers though.
Omg. THIS IS WORSE THAN HAVING A BABY!
maybe this can help

HD2 doesn't have a leash strap loop like all the previous HTC phones up to at least the Touch Pro?
That's one damaged HD2. Hope you get it repaired soon (unlike Acer's service).
