Toshiba TG01 hands-on video

The Unwired has published this video from MWC of the Toshiba TG01 in action.

I found this video particularly interesting for showing the massive size of the screen, which seems to dwarf the thumb of the person holding it, and also for showing how IE6 seamlessly loads the embedded video and plays it completely without hiccup, even when the web page was being scrolled.

Of course what is also obvious is that, despite the massive screen, some of the user interface elements are too small, but hopefully this is something Toshiba can address before launch.

Yeah IE looked great. Could IE6′s power be due to Snapdragon? Also, what’s up with that cheesy music they play in almost all of their videos?

It seems to be the case. Everything is very smooth and if the next IE (the one that comes with 6.5) will be more optimized than current version we might finally see desktop-like experience on mobile phone with speed and smoothness almost comparable to low-end x86 MID.

I have to say that all those news and videos showing working snapdragon make it even more and more impressive. CPU seems to really give wm a performance kick and now it works very quick. Graphic performance is impressive too. That demo seems at least comparable to iPhone’s graphic if not better. I hope that developers will now start making WM games that use openGL acceleration. Maybe marketplace will help the situation.
I hope that next devices based on it will be more MID like (similar to recently announced TP2 but with bigger screen – 4″ at least) and equipped in video out (CVBS or more preferably HDMI).
This kind of device would be a true jack-of-all-trades but only with optimized and good working wm 6.5
