i think is a good idea to create a new style modern smartphone, just to copy others traditonal method isn't a good way to innovation, if not, your business willcollapse. it is true.

There’s nothing wrong with looking at modern smartphone OSes like iPhone OS X, WebOS, Android, etc. when evaluating WM phones. WM’s UI was not bad for when it competed against PalmOS a decade ago, but today, WM 6.1′s UI is clearly a sub-optimal solution for pretty much all types of users. Most other platforms today offer a much smoother user experience.

As for integration, WM used to have significant data infrastructural advantages- Outlook desktop sync, Exchange support, etc., but those have mostly been pretty much wiped out (iPhone’s Exchange integration is even arguably better in some ways- e.g. email client, searching corporate contacts, etc.). WM still allows finer controls in an enterprise deployment scenario, but besides that, I can’t really think of any data systems that WM integrates with that other platforms don’t (and in most cases, better/more easily).

I’m a WinMob man not because it looks nice but because of its integration around my current systems, although the interfaces have been fairly modded are we looking too much at the iPhone when we’re making these judgements?

Something must be wrong with default WM since phone manufacturers are working their asses off to hide it;)
I agree that this striped interface is innovative. I think it’s brilliant actually! It’s just that it is so shallow. It kills the fun of using it completely. What is worse you get one user experience when using Toshiba’s part and then you get WM experience. WM is inconsistent by itself. The fact that Toshibas solution is so incomplete only causes more confusion.

point on innovation and not copying whats out there.

i like the vanilla dialer- on a large screen it will be fine, how often do u see it?

as for 1 tap to default WM mail…. whats worng with that?? if u don’t like the menu i think u can change it to go sms or mail by default.

OMG, WinMo 6.1 ^^
I agree with manual_, it could have been a good device but the custom UI isn´t that nice and Toshiba left out lots of things HTC added.
