Toshiba TG01 running Windows Phone 7 (video)

The HTC HD2 was one of only two 1Ghz Windows Mobile handsets, and has fared much better in the hacking stakes, running ROMS from Windows Phone 7 to the latest Android.

Unfortunately for Toshiba TG01 owners their handset had problems even being updated to the latest build of Windows Mobile.

Now a video has popped up on YouTube showing the phone running the latest version of Windows Phone 7. Of course this is not the first time we have seen this handset running the new OS, with Toshiba showing up repeatedly in our user agent searches before, confirming that the handset was once a development platform for WP7.

Hopefully with the handset showing up on YouTube it will mean a ROM running it will leak it widely soon also, letting all the TG01 and 03 owners join the party too.

I really wish Toshiba didn’t get cold feet about WP7 – I was looking forward to their offering.

I guess I’ll wait and see what Fujitsu bring to the table; although in light of seeing the recent Nokia N9, my faith has been restored in Nokia as far as design goes.

This is very good news for Microsoft, they need more phones out therer to create critical mass guerrilla marketing, specially when it’s hacked phones, there is a sexy aura around them that gives people reasons to talk about their phone and the achievement of hacing a cool new OS on it. This is where Sony got it all wrong, persecuting your fans is bad press!

Ah, the good old TG01, Mine is still running, alas only on wm6.5 (and used as an alarm clock) Would like to get a ROM to upgrade to WP7 to give it new functionality to spread the gospel of WP7!
Initially started with WP7 on my hacked HD2, even without live services, which proved the concept, and joy, of WP7! Gave that to a family member and obtained another two new WP7 devices, and also got my sister to upgrade to WP7 (which she loves, and is always discovering new features! )
SO, based on my own experience, I am relatively certain that anyone who hacks their old phone with a WP7 ROM will sooner or later make the jump to brand new WP7 devices in order to get ALL its features!!
