Twin Blades pulled from Marketplace due to “marketplace content policy”

twin_blades_2 Microsoft has pulled the action horror Twin Blades from Marketplace. The game, which was one of the launch titles, has apparently violated a “marketplace content policy”. The removal, 4 months after launch, is all the more surprising as the game is an Xbox Live title, which means Microsoft would have been involved in its creation and certification.

Twin Blades: The Reaping Vanguard involves a bloody battle against zombies in a small town, and also tells the tale of a lesbian romance between two nuns (one of which dies during the course of the game).

Karl Stricker, Business Manager of Mobile Gaming at Xbox LIVE, did not explain which policy it violated, merely saying “We had to remove it due to marketplace content policy” , promising “More detail on the Xbox forums to come.”

From there it appears the PSP version of the game received an “M” rating from the ESRB, making it unsuitable for Marketplace.

This is a side-scrolling action game in which players assume the role of Sister Angelika, a young nun tasked with defeating zombie hordes in her hometown. Players use scythes, machine guns, flamethrowers, and explosives to kill waves of oncoming zombies. Despite the game’s stylized and cartoonlike art style, the game displays exaggerated (although non-realistic) gory effects such as splashes of blood on the screen and ground. Fighting mostly consists of hack-and-slash combat, as zombies frequently get dismembered and decapitated; limbs and torsos fall to the ground before disappearing.

Current owners will be unaffected, but unfortunately, for those who’s interest has ben tweaked by the now illicit title, the game can no longer be downloaded from Marketplace.

If it is still on your phone then you are fine.

If you ever reset your phone or have to move to a new phone then you've lost the game; there's no way to redownload it

yeah whats in it for us who bought the game? i just learned about this when i had to do a reset.i even noted down all of the apps that i installed in which one of them is twin blades.came the time when i was about to install the game, i cant even find it in market place. i checked out the xbox forum and there they have confirmed that the game was removed because of the m rating.

Can I pay it and acquire the full version, since I already have the trial version?

From what others have said, the answer is no. You ca not change the trial into a full game.

OMG…. That sucks….. If i remember correctly, this games was being advertised when promoting WP7. But it is withdraw now. Soon, lots of others non childish games will be withdrawn too?

How to attract gamers to buy the phone then? Sometimes, I really ponder if MS really doing business….. OR just trying to make a fool of themselves…

this is so fucking stupid! like date wrote we need! hardcore gamesi already wrote press start studio im a fan of they work since the ipod release of the game, and even send them some cary ideas in the past, this really makes me angry android has angry birds, ios has street fighter, nintendo ds has plants vs zombies and even super street fighter 4 3d version for the upcoming 3ds, the psp has god of war adn the ngp will feature some good looking games, and what does the xbox mobile plataform has to offer? stupid puzzle games with shitty graphics like parachute panic (wich look awful compared to twin blades or the gorgeous ilomilo) is this how ms will succsed?

sorry for my bad english guys and another thing, in mexico where im from to get a credit card, wich its the ONLY! way to purchase from the marketplace you HAVE to be an adult, so you have to be an adult to buy, but you cant play games with some kind of mature content, soo stupid, but now i see ms strategy took all the good games from market place, BEG all the big studios to relase a shitty puzzle game on market place, and dont allow the good indie games (like chicks and vixens, nom nom worm, and monster up) to become xbox games, while other plataforms have some good games, in the mean time well wait while others can play FIFA, plants VS Zombies, Street Fighter, sonic, asphalt 6, supermonkey ball and even unreal engine powered games on theyr phones, nice job microsoft!

Game got only average reviews anyway.

The more important question would be "why?". Initially they're not even saying. It'd be nice to know how this went 4 months with no problem and what makes this particular 'M' rated game (was it incorrectly rated on the MP?) too much and the others not?

i'm pissed because my phone was stolen and when i tried to download my PAID GAME to my new phone … I CANT. give me a REFUND if you retract something i payed for!
