Upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog game will allow play on Windows Phone, resume on Xbox 360

Microsoft is finally coming round to fulfilling the promise of having Xbox Live on Windows Phone 7.

According to the Ken Balough, Digital Grand Manager on Sonic Episode II, interviewed in the above video by the Official Xbox Magazine, users will be able to start playing a game on your Windows Phone, save it  and continue on you Xbox 360.

He says, at around the 4:20min mark in the video above:

"…and one of the cool things about it is that the Windows Mobile 7 (sic) and the Xbox are going to be able to work in tandem in ways that are completely new. So when you pick up the Windows Mobile 7 and you’ll be able to play Sonic Episode II, save it, stop, boot up your Xbox 360 and pick up right where you left off. And that’s a really cool thing Microsoft has going between the devices and I’m a huge fan of it…"

The feature has of course been long promised, and we hope more games manage to implement it, but I think the real killer feature would be co-op between the phone and Xbox 360 over WIFI,  something which has unfortunately not been hinted at yet.
