WhatsApp For Windows Phone Updated To v1.6 With New Features

WhatsApp, the popular cross platform messaging client got an update today with many new small features and bug-fixes.Change log:

Changes from 1.5.0 to 1.6.0:
- Unread message count in chats pivot
- Improve behavior when receiving photos on EDGE networks
- Able to add unrecognized users to device contacts
- Able to forward messages
- Update status in UI when successfully setting your own status
- When creating a group, able to remove users from initial list of invitees
- Confirmation prompt when inviting a user to a group
- Fix sort order in group chat invite screen
- Workaround for “no text” problem caused by Advanced Configuration tool
- es-ES localization

My marketplace live tile is no longer telling me when there is an update for an App. It’s been well over 2 weeks and I haven’t seen a single update to an App. I had to force the PvZ update. Anyone else having that issue?

I had that same problem with my Samsung Focus (Although my girlfriends focus was fine). I thought maybe it was because I did the force update to Mango. Now I have a Titan and it doesn’t have that problem.

I didn’t force anything on my focus this time. My wife’s LG windows phone is working fine. Oh well perhaps a reset is needed again.

I think it takes more time for the live tile to get updated. If you check within few hours after the app update got published in the marketplace, it may not appear on live tile. Give it sometime.

It’s been 14 hours, I can safely say that my Marketplace tile is broken when it comes to updates. Since this version of WhatsApp has a major issue I guess in this case my marketplace issue helped me avoid it.

Truly hate this app!

I removed it last week and I swear my battery lasts an extra 2 hours.

strange. I have no problem running it and you shoundlt have. The app does not run in the background it only activates if you get a message using push notifications. If we were talking about android than its a real problem but for wp7 your device wont even notice the app is there. Maybe you get too many messages?

Not really, but it’s the only app I removed recently and I’m definitely getting more battery life.

Either way, it’s way too slow for my liking.

the new update today I can’t see the little thumbnails but I can’t open the
pics. My wife can open them fine and she is still running 1.5.

They really need to enable the Mango fast app switching as the app still takes too long to load. I know it’s only a few seconds, but often I find myself replying to a message, navigating somewhere else, then locking the phone, receiving another message and having to wait for the app to load again. Seeing that greenish backgrounf for a few seconds at a time gets tiresome after repeating this multiple times…

Hey I have a big problem here. The Marketplace Live Tile is showing nothing about new Updates, even when I go to WhatsApp Marketplace Site there is it listed as 1.6.0.0 but I cant update.
