Plaffo.com has heard from a source at the 3 carrier in Italy that the carrier has been informed that WIFI tethering and Internet sharing will become available as an update later this month.
The feature is of course part of Mango and has been demonstrated on Nokia handsets at Mobile World Congress 2012, but has so far not been rolled out. Plaffo speculates Nokia separated the update from the battery fix firmware so carriers reluctant to enable the feature would not hold back the battery fix.
If WIFI tethering does become available and rolls out widely, it would mean that Nokia handsets would have the full Windows Phone Mango feature set from visual voice mail to Wi-Fi tethering, with only the Tango features to be delivered.
