We all know the Nokia Lumia 920 features built-in wireless inductive charging. Many of us would also have heard of inductive cooking.
It takes a pretty warped mind to connect the two, but that is exactly what Mobilsoden.dk did, finally answering the question – “Will my inductive hob charge my Nokia Lumia 920?â€
The good news is that the Nokia Lumia 920 survived the ordeal. The bad news is that, despite registering a current, the phone ultimately did not charge, likely due to the fact that the Qi wireless charging protocol is not in fact dumb, but does feature two way wireless communication and handshaking over a 2 kb/sec connection, something an inductive hub is just not equipped with.
With the rapid spread of wireless charging, maybe this is a new opportunity for Hotpoint?
Needless to say, don’t try this at home.
Thanks Mads for the tip.
