Windows Mobile 7 shows up in Microsoft commercial (again)

We have had brief glimpses of this video showing Windows Mobile 7 before, but this time the video is available in high resolution, giving us a pretty good view of the Windows Mobile 7 today screen.

Most of the screenshots that were leaked 9 months ago are confirmed in the picture, and some things can be discerned from the video. The most obvious one is that the Sliding Panels interface from Windows Mobile Standard devices will also be showing up in Windows Mobile Professional phones. The video also has a brief demo of how Live Mesh will work on Windows Mobile, and it looks pretty good.

One can see the bigger input method selector, battery meter under the soft keys, and of course the sliding panels

I found this video a fairly compelling reason to begin participation in the Live Mesh Beta. I hope they add the WinMob piece soon.

Touchflo is htc’s stylish layer on top of Windows Mobile. This includes their today plug-in, custom photoviewer, custom start menu etc. Its their attempt to pretty up WM.

LiveMesh is a distributed file syncing and application network. It consists of a storage space in the “cloud” (some MS server somewhere) and also components on your desktop and handheld. Files placed in the synchronization folder gets automatically uploaded to the cloud and then downloaded to the other syncing devices e.g. from your laptop to your desktop or your handheld to a photoframe.

You will also be able to run web applications from your LiveMesh account. Its all pretty cool.

Oh nice…Thanks for the excellent information!

I was so excited to get the HTC Pro HD (480×800! WOW!), and now I come to find out that it doesn’t have the U.S. 3G bands.

Any idea as to when a “U.S. version” of the HTC Touch Pro??

And why do they still do they do that? Make “European and Asian-only” phones, so to speak?? @#$%^&*(

The CDMA version should be here on Sprint within 6 weeks. AT&T’s version, called the Fuze, is also expected rather soon, within the same time range.
