Windows Mobile 7 still in line for Spring Release to Manufacturers?

MSFTKitchen, clearly an amazing data spelunker, has found this slide on Microsoft’s server in a Chinese presentation created on the 11th December 2009 which indicates that Windows Mobile 7 was, then at least, still set for a Spring RTM.

This is of course exactly the time scale Microsoft should be looking for id they expect to have Windows Mobile 7 smartphones available in the fall on 2010. The news here is of course that Microsoft is still on track, and that rumours of a delay are just that.

this is the exact same slide that began the rumor of WM7 being released to manufacturers in spring. this is just a chinese version (or was that initial one also chinese?) anyway, I think we can forget about the december date of this slide, it's old…

The news is the date of the slide. If in December they were still telling OEM's it will ship in Sprint, it should still be on track.

Also, with the way WM works, HTC, LG etc have had WM7 for a while now anyway.

I agree, that'd be a major disappointment with me. I'm really hopping Microsoft really pushes the UI for WM7. They need to if they wish to stay competitive.

Why not? Actually, the concept of softkeys and long press menus is very efficient and allows for a very consistent UI through all applications – unlike the iPhone, where you find some of the most important buttons, like the back button, always at a different place, which is very annoying.

However, I don't think WM7 will look like this.
