Windows Phone 7 Ad… Has Less Words Than Even Metro UI

Have you ever seen a commercial that has absolutely no information as to what they are trying to sell to you… Well it seems now Windows Phone 7 has one. Just posted this morning by IntoMobile, the video shows absolutely nothing but the WP7 emulator device coming closer into focus and finally saying “Revolution”.

Now I have no major in marketing, but shouldn’t your target market know what you are trying to sell to them? I mean the commercial does not even go into details why people should go to the provided link. It just tries to be mysterious, and it is, but just a bit too much. I hope this is not what they will be using when the product actually becomes available… This ad campaign reminds me of the Droid commercials, except a lot less cool and tempting.

Microsoft, if you need a good ad campaign just simple Get Michael Bay to direct your commercial and put a lot of explosions and manly stuff then lastly have Megan fox included in the ad… Maybe just holding the phone. Guaranteed sales… Well more than the Kin Surprised smile .

This is not an ad campaign! It was a one off teaser spot for a lawrence or arabia event they were a sponsor of – it is amazing that you are critical of them for not providing enough information when you yourself don't provide the context of the commercial which is readily available from multiple sources.

It's amazing the sheer number of stupid reactions to this from people that supposedly consider themselves to be intelligent.

A simple little teaser that played before a movie is treated and critiqued like some sort of major commercial buy that played in prime-time TV!

i am a marketer. This is not an ad nor a commercial, it was a small buffer/trailer for a small audience. it wasnt mess for the masses.

Microsoft has employed Crispin Porter, one of the best advertising agencies in the world for their products, and with great results every time.

Nothing to worry about yet… i wouldn't call it the "kick off" for their advert blitz. It was for a very small group and if they were curious enough there was a website for them to check out.

But I agree, if this was what we can expect, then yeah, it would suck, but I think we must wait for the real thing before judgement.

You mean Michael Bay, right? Michael Moore is the documentary maker of "Bowling for Columbine" and "Fahrenheit 9/11" fame. I think his commercials would be a little depressing

People should just view it in context.

It was shown before a screening of Lawrence of Arabia – Obviously themed for the event and should be applauded so – at least they made the effort – rather than completely ignoring the reason behind the event and plugging their product with just another generic ad.

Wow, articles like this make me want to stop wasting my time on this web site. Especially after finding out this genius originally said Michale Moore. I guess there's nothing like slamming one of the world's largest corporations and your incorrect assumption of their marketing strategy on a public stage to boost the ol' self esteem.
