Windows Phone 7 “back in the game” in Europe in October and US in November

Good news for European users and slightly worse news for American ones from Kevin Turner, COO of Microsoft, where once again we have an October time frame for the launch of Windows phone 7 touted, unfortunately mainly for Europe, with a November launch suggested for American users.

Microsoft has explicitly said they intend to support the launch of these phones with a massive advertising campaign, and with less than 60 days to go before October comes along I expect we should soon start to hear a lot more about Windows Phone 7.

Normally I would say this is great news, but today I have heard/read a rumor somewhere, that Bing on WP7 will be crippled here in Denmark (nothing more than the regular Bing search) and the Zune-service will be left out too….

I hope it's just FUD, but somehow I believe ti to be true (

European carriers are more competitive, it makes prices for manufacturers more attractive, that's all it is about.

They did the same thing for the KIN… just saying. I know the KIN was a much bigger turd than WP7 could ever be, but I wouldn't really make much of Microsoft's advertising efforts since they all suck.

Remember the dancing icons from the WM6.5 ads? Gah…

Bing and Windows 7 have done well because they are actually good competitive products, but their ads suck too.

Those 7 second Windows 7 spots are retarded.

Not sure if this is just me, but I started using Bing only because of the ad I saw on TV. Didn't know what it was until then.

Even if the bing and windows 7 ads were poor they got the message out there as more and more people are using bing and purchasing windows 7. This is because it showcases the features that will attract new customers and that is what Microsoft need to do with Windows Phone 7. Showcase metro, marketplace, bing and office but also focus more on the Xbox live function and Zune and Zune pass. If the marketing is right it will be a success.

I can't wait for it to be released in the UK as I will be buying it offline and I think that is why Microsoft are more likely to launch it first in Europe as it is a bigger market and more consumers are willing to buy offline. But also, it will be a bigger launch then the US as they will be launching Zune Pass too.

massive KIN ads… Nah never really happened. That would have to have be done by VERIZON.

If you're in the USA see DROID ads for non-stop blanket advertising (that works well judging by verizon sales)

FYI Verizon had KIN in the corner of the store with NETBOOKS. Across the showroom from blackberry, smartphone, android & all other phones. ROTF
