Windows Phone 7 launching October 11th, coming to Austrian stores 20th October

launch According to Pocketlint, “multiple sources familiar with the matter” have confirmed Windows Phone 7 will launch officially in New York on 11 October 2010.

Pocketlint claims their unnamed sources were all senior figures within the industry that they know and trust.

The Austrian DerStandard.at also report that Microsoft will be holding separate presentations in Germany on the same date, with handsets available on Orange in late October, T-Mobile from the 20th October, from 3 by the end of October, with the other carriers indicating they would also launch handset running the OS but unwilling to commit to the date due to NDAs.

I actually was pre-invited to an event that was suppose to take place in either New York or San Fransisco, so this actually goes with what I have heard. I will try and make it to the show for you guys

Late Oct to early Nov sounds right for EU release which they said would see the devices first compared to the US which always gets phones after the EU does unless they're US only type phones.

Can't wait to see what other models show up till then so we get a bit more highend and 4" screen devices in the mix. Can't wait to get rid of my old phone already.

October 11th is almost exactly a month a way. As excited as I am I also have to wonder when MS plans to start their marketing strategy for the general public. Sure everyone that's a follower of this site or that's on top of tech news knows about WP7 inside and out but I'd actually be surprised if 2 or 3 of my friends actually knew about WP7 and what they're bringing to the table. This concerns me. The main reason iPhone was so hyped up was because of their admittingly smart marketing. Same with Droid phones now. Everyone seems to know the Windows Seven commercials so let's start seeing the Windows Phone 7 commercials rolling out!

Lundon, they should wait until Oct 11th to start the commercials. You don't want the commercials to start too early. You want them to get interest, but not be too far ahead of when people can buy them. And it wil llikely be at least a week after the Oct 11 date when phones will be available from carriers.

I just say… please Sprint get on it fast!!!!
