Windows Phone 7 Mango developer build to be updated tomorrow?

The Windows Phone Dev Podcast team were the first to inform us that Mango has gone RTM, even when Microsoft denied it. Now they have tweeted that developers will have 7712 reasons to look forward to tomorrow, suggested we will see built 7712 of Windows Phone 7 Mango being pushed out to devs.

The RTM of Mango is however supposed to be 7720, suggesting that that build will not in fact be the final build, but it may be so close as not to matter.

RIght, because you installed the leaked build on your phone using an unsupported method. Keep in mind that doing the same thing with the RTM of Mango will also void your warranty (unless you restore the backup.)

It’d be nice to have a way to kill tombstoned apps and something similar to visual voicemail. I also miss the “search on page” feature from pre-Mango Internet Explorer.

visual voicemail is built into mango, you can kill apps, the find on page is missing. guess not a lot of people used it for it to be a staying feature….after all they changed what the search button does…personally I liked how it was in pre-mango, however, lets see if they’ll bring it back.

No, it IS in Mango. If you don’t see it – it is because your mobile network does not support it (or disabled it for your number).

No. visual voicemail wasn’t activated on my account and it still showed up in mango as an option. I still had to go enable it. but it works. it seems to work for some and not for others. not sure why, maybe there’s still somethings they need to work out.

Anyone willing to troubleshoot my Focus 1.3 mango update woes with me? I could use some serious help with that famous error code. I seem to be stuck in limbo where I get the developer update notification, and I can’t get past the error code. I also can’t seen to flash back to 7004 without errors. I’m afraid in my current state I won’t be able to get official updates, because I can’t reverse the process. Help! Email me at wp7fan (-at-) gmail dot com. Thanks in advance!

I think you’d have more chance of finding someone to help you at AppHub and/or Microsoft Answers. Especially AppHub because it is developer oriented and has a Mango section dedicated to updating and issues.

Thanks Radius – I was quickly able to find that the problem had been fixed, and a new update was available when I synced to Zune. I’m Mango-fied! WOOHOO!

Hope this includes also that the Marketplace and other services will be opened for other regions, I’d love to try Mango with my main Live account before it’s final release .

Also I am curious about the update process. Should we reverse to our backup first or will it update the current beta. Questions, questions, questions. Well probably I’ll get my answer tomorrow when I open my mailbox. Can’t wait

I’m guessing we’ll have to go back to our backups and then do the process over again and the new updated build will be installed. I doubt the current beta2 will be updated, they clearly said it wasn’t going to be.

I’m also guessing that when the new dev build is out devs won’t have to revert back to backups in order to install the final build when its out.

No, you can update straight to 7712 from the current beta.

Once official Mango is released though, you will have to revert to your old backup, like you said.

Please author, Microsoft develops in branches. Meaning that they release 7712 to the public so that they´re ready for app creation etc., but functionality which hasn´t been announced yet still is secret in the 7720 build.

LATEST NEWS!!! I plugged my Mango to the computer and offered me to update to 7712!!! Doing it now. Takes about 15 min. Will post back when finished. Mine is a Samsung Focus, ATT

First boot after update to 7712. Boot screen shows new WP logo, square and mine was red, maybe because my theme is red. The issue with digitally signed emails not readable was solved. Phew, now I can read work emails send by these obnoxious people that use them.The animation in the people hub and all hubs when it opens looks more 3D, not only rotates, but it zooms in. The group I have for friends no longer has a square box, it only shows the text, which is less confusing (will not be confused with theh # box below. I can add my Twitter accoung now. In Zune, the play icon was changed to an icon of musical notes. Song time tracking was not added while in lock screen or notification screen.Internet explorer 9 speed reading test clocks at 27fps, fish tank at 30fps, which is more or less the same as before. In maps, icon to center in current location was changed to concentric circles. I see more subtle animation enhancements and smootheness. ANybody found something else?
