Windows Phone 7 to launch in Canada at same time as USA, will be available on multiple carriers

At the Microsoft’s X’10 event in Toronto, Microsoft Canada Mobility Solutions Manager Greg Milligan has again been caught on video being pretty forthcoming with the Windows Phone 7 info.

On this video by LazyReviewzzz Greg notes that the Canadian launch will be simultaneous with the US phones, with a line up by LG, HTC and Samsung, available on multiple carriers, unlike it seems the USA. He however also go on to say Dell will be along before the end of the year, with other OEMs to follow in 2011.

Regarding the cost of the phones, as expected they are competitive with other smartphones price-wise, with the phones ranging from $99 to $199 Canadian on the standard 3 year contract there.

Interesting, that HTC, Samsung and LG get first bite at the market and then Dell joins the party down the line. But how far down the line does Dell joins the party, that's what I wanna know. Mind you, I'm planning on a getting Samsung phone with Super AMOLED screen.

Well given the world premiere is expected to be early october and they said Dell would be before the end of the year: 4-6 weeks seems about right.

I'm very excited. However I doubt we'll see any of the super phones. The EVO never made it here (I'm in Toronto btw) and the HD2 never made it. I had to go on Ebay and blow $700 to get the Telsta HD2 just so it would work with Telus. I don't regret it however I have a feeling I will have to do the same thing again next year when the HD3 arrives.

This is also one of my concerns. This all seems super cool and all, but how many of the phones we will actually see here in Canada is one big question mark. Also, the ones we actually do get, what are the chances that they won't be crippled versions? Still, I am fairly excited, like a hamster in a kayak race!

Supposedly and based on the suspicious choosing of countries in the Xbox Live price increase. It is possible North America will have a coordinated launch. For those geography challenged, that also means Mexico.

I am psyched on that posibility. But..will not be holding my breath, even if it don't happens like that, we are still part of the 17 countried slated for a 2010 launch. That is something.
