Windows Phone Mango Roll Out To Start From September 1?

Pocket-lint is reporting that according to its sources Windows Phone Mango will be delivered to users starting from September 1. Microsoft so far have said nothing on the release date except this ‘Fall’ time frame.

Pocket-lint also added a reason why their source may be right,

The date we now understand to be chosen is important because it ties in with IFA, Europe’s largest consumer electronics show in Berlin, and means that companies like Samsung, Acer, ZTE and LG will be able to show off new devices with Mango installed.

IFA runs from the 2nd to 7th September 2011.

Do you think Windows Phone Mango will arrive as early as September? Anyway, If it happens , its great for us.

I doubt it will reach gen 1 devices in September, at least not in the US. I expect AT&T to begin the rollout sometime in November, honestly.

agreed and i’m thinking more of a 2014 release for AT&T lol

I also worry that between the two REVs of the Samsung Focus and the other various issues they encountered getting 7008 out to the HTC Surround that AT&T may end up having to stagger the update and roll it out over a few months. =/

    I wish it’s true.

While I hope this is true, I don’t think it’s a good argument.

Samsung et al. has no problems showing off Mango-devices, since they already recevied the RTM-version. Whether it’s rolled out to the public or not doesn’t matter much imo.

It is code complete so it should and I do think it will! Well except for Samsung devices, those will come out in the following years haha

Funny you say that since the Samsung RTM firmware has been leaked

Phew, a leak may be the only way to get it :-P

        • Mike P

Hahahaha! : ) true. I am going to flash the device from a Samsung centre as soon as they get RTM.

It took 4 months to ship a minor update, from rollout start, to every phone and carrier; and that was mentioned as “success” by Brandon Watson. I.e. You can expect the same time frame, so January is still my expected date, possibly February. With the usual useless comments and posts on the blog.

Rumors are just that, and I think that all this guessing is only going to disappoint.

Let’s just hope that ‘soon’ is soon enough.

I doubt it, but I do hope so, I would prefer to have the RTM as opposed to the 7712 beta I am using.

Go Verizon, you were late to the party, so be early with Mango!

  • Anonymous

Impossible. It will be barely shown, presented, then probably a few new mango devices will trickle to markets in early october.
My bet is that existing users will be treated with the usual ‘delay’, in order to encourage people to buy new phones, instead of waiting for their update. Remember, Microsoft has NOTHING to say on when an update is pushed to a model, only IF an update is pushed.
So, my most optimistic bet is we will start getting Mango in late October, which means most of us will receive it barely in time for the holidays.
This, of course, if the ‘success’ in terms of NoDo update the wp team touts, can be kept with Mango.
If Mango proves to be too big for them to handle, disaster will strike and we will see Spring-Summer 2012 updates, just like android

    Wonder who gets it first?

In my completely uninformed opinion, I’d imagine that carriers that only have ONE WP7 device are likely to get it sooner, as , logistically, there is less to clear with a carrier.

Then again, as a Verizon Trophy owner, it is possible that I am subconciously trying to paint a scenario that is favorable to me …

That would be great. Now if ATT can get it in gear and get it out to all devices including the focus 1.3 and 1.4 especially
