WTH!?! Vodafone to stop selling the HTC HD2 !!

htchd2dropped It seems a few days after I stopped waiting for the HTC HD2 with a sliding keyboard and decided to commit to the black slab, it seems Vodafone has decided to stop selling the HTC HD2.

Vodafone:

"We haven’t recalled or stopped selling it, at the moment we have simply ran out of stock. When our next batch of stock arrives, this will be used to fulfill our outstanding back orders but we won’t be taking any additional orders via Telesales."

The reason for this shocking development is not clear. Suspected reasons vary from Vodafone making way for the iPhone 3GS, HTC not being able to supply demand or the handset simply being moved from the consumer to business section and requiring a business contract.

Whatever the reason, there is likely to be thousands of disappointed current Vodafone subscribers who may be not be Vodafone subscribers for very long.  I am certainly glad I got my order in on the 8th, and am expecting the handset on the 15th, but I know many others are not as lucky.

We will be pinging our HTC rep tomorrow for an official denial or confirmation.

Anyone who wanted an i-phone that bad would have switched to O-2 ages ago, the Htc Hd2 has just supassed what the i-phone has to offer…. Apart apart the aps available…… watch this space :) …. ,im guessing Vodafone has ordered shed loads of i-phones and is panicking lol, dont get me wrong the i-phone is quality, 6 months ago there was no other choice….. now there is, not just the Htc Hd2, theres the Samsung Omina 2 and countless other Windows Mobile 6.5 phones being realesed, also dont forget the Android market….. Guessing its squeaky bum time at Apple???……….. Until the iphone 3 appears thats is??…. Then im sure Apple will raise standards yet again …….in the mean time 'SCHOOL BOY ERROR' …….VODAFONE

Are you guys sure about this? This is all based on one individuals comments on a forum. I'll be very surprised if this turns out to be true.

They probably just realized that until WM7, there's no compelling reason to go with expensive WM devices. Regardless of the hardware, it's still that quirky, inconsistent, always locking up WM OS inside. No matter how you try to pretty WM up, it's just lipstick on a pig ;)

    • Max

It's not the OS that's locking up, it's the crapware and badly written applications. :)

Nah… it's an antiquated OS that should have been retired ages ago — glad you like it though ;)

If I was Vodafone, I would also have stopped selling HD2. A phone that cannot reliably send and receive SMS is not worth much. At least not if you are running a business like me. I have already returned my HD2 and I can see there still is no solution. The HTC email support has also been downright rude when trying to report bugs in the phone. They seem not to be able to read, they are unable to respond to the question you ask and just write anything in response. I found about 4 bugs in the phone but was unable to report them to HTC.

God, are you thick or just plain stupid. They ran out of stock. The phone is high in demand. People actualy bought the phone, so they ran out of stock. This didn’t happen to the iPhone, coz it wasn’t as much in demand as the HTC HD2.
