XBMC is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player that originated on hacked versions of the original Xbox and is now available also for Linux, OSX, Windows, and of course still the original Xbox. Created in 2003, XBMC is a non-profit project run and developed by volunteers located around the world.
XBMC Remote7 is a project by Tyler Power from New Zealand which will allow browsing of all media types in the XBMC library as well as the ability to function as a virtual remote using the touch screen.
The video above is the result of his latest build, which incorporates drop-down menus, which, while not strictly part of the Windows Phone 7 UI toolkit, does make the navigation process much smoother.
Follow Tyler’s development efforts at DigitalReality.co.nz here, and watch out for our interview with him later in the week.
